Three towns, one festival — the winegrowers of Lindau, Wasserburg, and Nonnenhorn open their doors
The Bavarian Lake Constance, between Lindau, Wasserburg, and Nonnenhorn, is one of Germany's smallest but finest wine-growing regions. On around 70 hectares of vineyards, about 25 family businesses cultivate Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, and, in recent years, increasingly PIWI grape varieties. The locations directly on the lake benefit from the mild Lake Constance climate and the reflected light from the water surface — the wines exhibit a characteristic minerality and freshness that has become rare in Germany. The "Komm und See" festival focuses on this very wine culture every two years.
The festival's concept is extraordinary: instead of a central festival site, eleven wine estates in Lindau, Wasserburg, and Nonnenhorn open their courtyards, wine shops, and cellars. Guests wander from one winery to the next, tasting wines directly from the growers, getting to know the producer families personally, and discovering the picturesque Lake Constance coast with its mix of vineyards, lake, and alpine scenery along the way. A shuttle bus from Burkhard-Reisen, running every half hour, connects the three locations and makes travel between the wineries uncomplicated — especially when you leave your car behind after a few tastings.
At the participating wineries, not only wine is served — culinary delicacies from the region (Lake Constance whitefish, Allgäu cheese, charcuterie platters), live music, art exhibitions, cultural programs, and background information on regional wine culture complement the experience. Some winegrowers offer cellar tours, others concerts in the courtyard or special themed tastings. Each estate develops its own program, ensuring that no festival weekend is the same as the last. The festival has become a firm fixture in the Lake Constance summer calendar, attracting wine lovers from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Austria, and Switzerland.
The organizer is the Weinbauverein Bayerischer Bodensee e.V., the umbrella organization of Bavarian Lake Constance winegrowers. The festival is held every two years — 2026 is the next edition after the successful previous one. Ticketing is available via kommundsee.de, with advance sales starting on March 28, 2026. Admission price 2026: €15 for both days, €10 for Friday or Saturday individually — the tasting glass and a booklet are included.
On July 3rd and 4th, 2026, the Bavarian Lake Constance transforms into Germany's largest wine festival on the lake. Eleven wineries in Lindau, Wasserburg, and Nonnenhorn open their doors and courtyards to present their wines: Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, and PIWI varieties.
Each winery designs its own program: tastings, cellar tours, live music, art exhibitions, regional cuisine. The shuttle bus from Burkhard-Reisen, running every half hour, connects the three towns and makes it easy to move between the estates. A unique concept that elegantly combines wine, culture, and the Lake Constance landscape.
